What’s the difference between Kayak Adventure and Kayak Hire?

Kayak Adventure is fully guided. An instructor is on the water with you, coaching as you go and managing the route to help you explore more of the river in the best conditions.

Kayak Hire is self-led. You receive a briefing and a map, then paddle independently within a designated area.

Do I need experience to join?

No previous experience is required. It’s suitable for confident beginners, with a full safety briefing and coaching from your instructor on the water. We adjust the pace to suit the group.

How challenging is it?

This is moderate physical activity with steady paddling for up to 2 hours. It’s not white water and it’s designed to be enjoyable rather than exhausting for reasonably active participants.

Is the Beaulieu River tidal? Is it safe?

Yes, the Beaulieu River is tidal. Sessions are planned around safe tidal windows and your instructor manages the timing and route. We do not run in unsafe conditions.

How far do we go?

We typically cover more distance than Family Paddling, with opportunities to explore creeks and quieter stretches of the nature reserve when conditions allow. The exact distance varies with tide, weather and the group on the day.

What age is Kayaking Adventure suitable for?

The minimum age is 12. It’s ideal for older teens and adults who are comfortable around water. Parents remain responsible for any minors in their group.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear old trainers or water shoes and comfortable outdoor clothing. Bring a waterproof layer, plus a towel and a change of clothes. In summer, sun cream is a good idea. We recommend leaving valuables in your car.

Will we get wet?

You’ll likely get splashed, especially when paddling and turning. It’s rare to capsize, but it’s always possible on the water, so dressing appropriately makes the day much more enjoyable.

Where do we meet and is there parking?

We are based in Beaulieu in the New Forest, with toilets and changing rooms available on site. Full joining instructions are sent in your confirmation email.

What happens if the weather is bad or I need to change my booking?

We run in most weather and only cancel if conditions are unsafe. If you need to make changes, contact us as early as possible. Rescheduling and credit options are offered in line with the booking terms shown at checkout.

Yes — it’s a popular choice for couples wanting a guided experience with great scenery and a bit of adventure. It also pairs nicely with lunch in Beaulieu before or after your session.
