Take the raft build challenge. You'll get all the kit you need and it's up to you and your group whether you Sink or Swim!
A great activity for families in the New Forest. You’ll get loads of equipment and it’s up to you what you build and how you build it. You can then put your raft to the test to see if you and your team sink or swim. Raft building takes place throughout the summer on the calm waters of Sopley Lake.
There is always barrels, planks, poles and rope as your building blocks. With guidance from your instructor you’ll get top tips on knots and ideas for your raft design.
What will you build?
It will be up to you if you build raft for speed or a raft for stability. Maybe build a raft for leaping off or make two small rafts to race each other. You’ll get all the guidance you need and there are always lots of options.
Sink or Swim?
The moment of truth. All rafts need a name for good luck and then you’ll launch on to the water. See if your ropey contraption can make it to the island in the middle of the Lake. Will your raft pass the New Forest Activities raft MOT!

My friend and I booked the Kayak taster. Our instructors were very friendly and patient. The pace of the group was suited to everyone’s ability and we could be as active as we wanted to be.
