The Scouts Association (formerly known as The Boy Scouts Association) was founded in 1910 and has been responsible for providing adventures for young people in the great outdoors for over 120 years. With various programmes available including Beavers, Cubs and Explorers, there’s a group for all ages from 6-25 years offering unique experiences, challenging scout activities and everyday adventures!
Pioneered by Chief Scout and outdoor survival expert Bear Grylls, the Scouts help children and young adults to reach their full potential whilst at the same time, developing important life skills
These “everyday adventures” are only possible because of the thousands of adult volunteers who support groups across the country to embrace everything the great outdoors has to offer. For leaders looking for Scout activities for their next group adventure, New Forest Activities has a wide range of activities on offer to help young people develop their skills (and aid in badge collecting as well of course!)
Bushcraft & Archery
Learn to forage for supplies to build woodland shelters, light fires, cook s’mores and bake bananas over an open fire, taught by one of our Bushcraft experts. Or perhaps learn the art of the ancient hunters in an Archery session, requiring precision, control and a steady hand. All of which are based at our woodland activity site in the heart of the Beaulieu Estate. Find out more about Bushcraft »
High & Low Ropes
We’ll have your Scout group swinging from the trees on our high and low ropes courses that promote a sense of both teamwork and achievement. Take on the high all-aboard and see if you and your teammates are brave enough to make the jump. Or perhaps the crate stack where your Scouts will need to work together to build a tower as tall as the trees! Find out more about High/Low Ropes »
Canoeing & Kayaking
Why not take to the water in either our stable canoes or touring kayaks? Learn to paddle correctly and navigate the river’s hidden creeks and waterways. Depending on your learning outcomes, we can also teach you various paddling techniques and self-rescue, all delivered by our knowledgeable activity instructors. Find out more about Canoeing »
Canoe Raft Building
We’ll provide you with all the equipment you’ll need to ballista canoes together and to build your vessel its very own catapult weapon. You’ll then go head to head with the opposing team to see who’s raft can take the most hits, but ultimately it’s planning and cooperation that are vital to success.
Navigate the stunning New Forest National Park by bike with the use of various maps and cycle routes. In addition we can teach you the proper maintenance of a bicycle including adjusting the brakes and gears, correct seat and handlebar heights, removing a wheel and repairing a puncture to name just a few. Hiking & Orienteering
Navigate your way on foot through the forests, deer sanctuaries and open heathland of The New Forest. We can also incorporate an Orienteering element into any one of our hikes teaching young people both navigation skills and decision making.
In one word ‘flexibility’. Flexible to meet our Scout group’s budget. Flexible to accommodate shifting numbers. Flexible to meet the needs of the group and respond to the weather conditions. Overall, first class.
