Established in 1953 by the distinguished plantsman Sir Harold Hillier, the Gardens currently hold one of the world’s most important plant collections and offers breath-taking beauty and tranquillity whatever the season.


With FREE ENTRY FOR CHILDREN who love playing in our fantastic tree house, wobbly bridge and flying carpet swing this is a perfect day out for all the family.


With so much to see throughout the year, one visit just won’t be enough.


Seasonal Highlights

Winter – Enjoy the visual and fragrant delights of one of the largest Winter Gardens in Europe.

Spring – Breath-taking gorgeous displays of Magnolias, Camellias, Azaleas and Rhododendrons

Summer – Walk the Centenary Border; awash with a variety of height, shapes and colours this 250m long, double edge border is one of the longest in Eurpoe and defiantly worth a visit.

Autumn – You will love spotting the beautiful browns, oranges, yellow’s and gold’s during our award winning autumn colour.


Workshops, Exhibitions & Outdoor Concerts

Workshops running in 2015 include, Photography, Art (inc Botanical, Pastel Pencil and Watercolour painting). Craft, Falconry Experiences, Chocolate Making and Jewellery Making.



Fancy an evening summer picnic in the Gardens listening to some incredible music? Then join us at our 3 outdoor summer concerts. Running throughout the summer there’s something for everyone’s tastes from classical music to soul and motown.


Families love our end of summers picnic with firework finale in August but be sure to book early it sells out months in advance.
