The area is of outstanding natural beauty and is protected. The woodland on the riverbanks is untouched and home to lots of wildlife and nesting birds. You can see a lot of the nature reserve from the river, and there are lots of inlets to explore. The Beaulieu River is a tidal estuary - we fit our sessions around the tides. If you would like to use your own boat on the river, you will need to speak to the harbour master and pay a small launching fee.

These 2 hour courses are £35 and with small ratio's they guarantee plenty of tuition and practice in a nice warm pool! You can book this through our Liquid Logistics website.

How Stable Are The Boats?

Both the Touring Kayaks and Canadian Canoes we use are very stable. The Canoes have wide, flat bottoms which makes them harder to capsize. However, it is of course possible to fall in. Leaning very far over the edge of the boats increases the chance of this! The Kayaks are very easy to come out of should you happen to capsize - the spray deck will come off naturally. Our instructors are extremely well practiced at rescue drills and will have you back in your boat in about a minute! We provide you with buoyancy aids, so even if you do happen to go for a dip you don't need to worry about safety. The river is surprisingly warm too! Just make sure you have a spare change of clothes! If you come to the end of your session and fancy trying a capsize and rescue drill, your instructor will guide you through this. It's all part of becoming an experienced paddler. On our Sea Kayaking Intro sessions, a capsize and rescue is part of the skills you will be taught as this is essential on the open sea.

Can I Hire Bikes From You?

Yes - we have a selection of Adults bikes and a small selection of Childrens bikes suitable for children aged 10+ (24" sized wheels) available for hire from our Booking Centre, which is on Beaulieu High Street. Bike Hire in Beaulieu. Bikes cost £10 per Adult and £8 per Child for a half day (09.30 - 13.30 or 13.30 - 16.30) and £18 per Adult and £14 per Child for a full day hire (09.30 -16.30). We sell New Forest cycle maps for £2.00, and can also provide an orienteering pack with questions along a set route. This route takes about 2.5 hours at a leisurely pace. Packs cost £5.00 and £2.00 for additional packs. We recommend to families with younger aged children to come and visit our Booking Centre on the day of hiring bikes, to have a look and try out the children's bikes before pre-booking and paying over the telephone or on-line. This is just in case the children's bikes do not fit the young children. Bikes can be booked in advance on 01590 612377, or you can turn up on the day to see if we have any available. find out more about bike hire in the New Forest.

What is Sea Kayaking?

Sea Kayaks are single person enclosed boats. You have a spray deck and use a double bladed paddle. The Sea Kayaks differ slightly from the Touring Kayaks used in our taster sessions - they are longer and narrower, and feel slightly more unstable. The 3 hour Sea Kayaking Intro's we offer will get you used to the boats, and focus more on paddle skills that you will need on the open sea. You will also get the opportunity to practice a capsize and rescue drill. We recommend having some experience of kayaking before progressing to Sea Kayaking. 3 hour Intro sessions cost £40 per person and run regularly from our site at Bucklers Hard.

Do Children Need to Be Accompanied By An Adult?

Canoeing - Due to the sizes of our buoyancy aids, this is suitable for all ages down to children as young as 2. Why Do I Need to Arrive 30 Minutes Early For My Activity?

It is important to arrive 30 minutes before your activity starts in order for the Instructor to brief you on all the equipment you will be using and to go over safety issues. This ensures you have your full activity time. If you miss your session, we cannot issue a refund. There is a £25.00 admin fee to move your booking to another day.
