To really make the most out of the New Forest you'll need to get off the roads and onto the bridle ways and footpaths. Remember to bring along:

  • Map - OS are the best, you can also get cycle route maps
  • Puncture repair kit
  • Helmets 
  • Waterbottle
  • Suncream & hats - hopefully for the glorious weather
  • Waterproofs - just in case
  • A rucksack to put it all in

We stock a selection of bikes at our booking centre in Beaulieu and at our Canoeing site, Bailey's Hard.

Costs -

  • Half day (4hrs, AM or PM) - £10 per bike
  • Full day (8hrs) - £18 per bike

Bike Hire includes the hire of helmets and a rucksack containing a bike pump, bike lock, puncture repair kit, bike tool and spare inner tubes.

Optional extra's -

  • Buy official New Forest cycle map for £2
  • Buy orienteering packs for Beaulieu or Brockenhurst (The packs come with an answer and question set, an OS map of the area. The packs cost £5, or additional packs at £2).

Cycling in the New Forest

With its countless cycle paths and places to visit, the New Forest is best travelled by bicycle.

If you don't have your own, hiring bikes in the New Forest is easy and quick. We stock a selection of hire bikes at our booking centre in Beaulieu village in the New Forest, Hampshire. You'll find us next to the 'Old Tea Rooms' just off the high street. Drop in to hire a bike for the day to explore the Beaulieu Estate.   

We also recommend Cycle Experience in Brockenhurst for a larger selection of bikes, with all the add-ons you'll need for kids and families. Find them on the crossroads by Brockenhurst station. They have a large stock of modern, good quality mountain bikes in all manner of shapes and sizes.

Cycling in the New Forest

We recommend to everybody visiting the New Forest to bring your bike.

The purpose made cycle paths are clearly sign posted linking towns and places of interest through spectacular woodland.  

It is certainly the best way to travel and can often be quicker than taking your car.

The New Forest District Council operates a green bus service that welcomes bikes so if you feel that lunch was a little too much, look out for the green bus at most towns and villages in the forest.
